What is the Deep Dip session?

The Deep Dip session combines one surfskate session and one surf session on the same day.It is made for people who have limited time on Lanzarote, or for those who want to feel how land-based movement training can transfer into the water. On the surfskate we can repeat movements more often and more clearly: balance, small manoeuvres and basic steering through shifts in weight and line of sight. In the surf session afterwards, you can benefit from that previous movement experience in real waves. It is a concentrated day, so it suits you best if you are ready for two active sessions and want a compact, practical experience.Mainly dedicated to beginners and refreshers, but also suitable for surfers of any level who want to try a test-drive on the surfskate.

What exactly is surfskating?

Skateboarding has its roots in surfing, and modern surfskates are designed to reproduce as directly as possible how a surfboard responds to weight shifts, pressure, timing and speed. Exercises can be repeated much more often than in the water, and manoeuvres can be broken down into small, simple parts and practised that way. This makes it much easier to focus on movement patterns and balance without already having to think about wave choice, paddling, timing and many of the other things that come into play when surfing in the water. With surfskate, you maintain and improve your skills between individual sessions and between surf trips — and you shorten the time you need to get back into it after longer periods without waves.

Who are surfskate lessons for?

Many tutorials give good hints on isolated fragments — arms, back foot, shoulders, compression or rotation — but miss the link between body, board and flow.Join if your pump keeps fading into “Stillstand”, if you want a practical training tool between surf trips, or if wind, waves or tired arms keep you out of the water. If you already feel fully at home in skateparks, ramps and bowls, this might not be the most exciting surfskate session for you. You may still take something from it when it comes to drawing the connection back to surfing.Already solid on the flats and curious about more “vert”? No problem. Quarter pipes and mini ramps are a good next step.

Where does the surfskate session take place?

The surfskate session takes place at Parque Urbano in Playa Honda. You need your own transport between Playa Honda and Famara, or you can use the public bus connection if the timing works for your day.If you have trouble organising your transport, let me know in your request and I will see what we can arrange.I will send you the exact meeting details after your request.

Is there a transfer service?

I do not offer a transfer service for organisational reasons.Contact me anyway if you cannot rely on public transport or hire a car, and I will help you find a solution.

Beach & Skate ready? Lessons essentials:

What to bring for your surf and surfskate days

Sun protection ☀️
Bring sun protection, even on cloudy days. Surf zinc or a zinc stick usually stays on best in the water.
Drinking water 💧🥤🍉
For each session, bring at least 1 l per person, ideally more, and a little snack: fruits, nuts or a muesli bar are ideal during and between the sessions. Depending on the tides, there will be time to have a longer break in between skating and surfing
Sneakers / Flip-flops or Sandals 👟🩴
For skating, bring some simple sneakers. At the beach, flip flops or sandals offer comfort and protection for your feet: Hot sand in summer, pebbles in winter
Towel & swimwear 👙🩲
Bring a towel and swimwear for under the wetsuit. Tight swimwear is usually more comfortable than loose boardshorts.
Suitable clothes 🌦️
For skating choose something light, comfortable and robust. Maybe not your best favourite dress, if you are new to surfskating. In Winter and on windy days something cosy and warm to wear after the surf session. A beanie is a usefull protection for wet ears in any weather.
Swimming & health 🏊 ⚕️
You should be able to swim. Please mention injuries, allergies, diabetes or other concerns when booking.
Jewellery & piercings 🤔
Best left at home. They can get lost or create unnecessary injury risks.
All in Hand 🎒?
A small backpack or comfortable bag keeps everything you need for the session together and leaves your hands free to carry your board.
